SRHS cancer doctors provide cancer treatment in Pascagoula and Ocean Springs. Medical and radiation oncology doctors provide cancer care in Jackson County. Singing River Health System is proud to offer comprehensive cancer care to the Gulf Coast community. Learn a little about our doctors below:

Dr. Edgar Hull Dr. Hull received his bachelor’s degree from Tulane University, and earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He performed his internship at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., and completed a residency at John Hopkins Hospital and at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Hull was a member of the Medical Staffs of Charity Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans before joining the Singing River Hospital Medical Staff. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hospice and palliative medicine.

Dr. James Clarkson Dr. Clarkson received his bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. He performed his internship at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Dr. Clarkson completed his residency at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi and a fellowship at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and geriatric medicine.

Dr. Nicole Angel Dr. Angel received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She earned her medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in oncology at the same institution. Dr. Angel is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Dr. Brian Persing Dr. Persing received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the same institution. Dr. Persing is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology.

Dr. Benjamin Gatewood Dr. Gatewood received his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College. He completed his medical degree, residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Dr. Gatewood is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and board eligible in hematology.

Dr. Sam Dennis Dr. Dennis received his undergraduate degree from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Texas. He received his master’s degree and doctorate degree in physics from Rice University in Houston, Texas. He was awarded a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral research fellowship tenable at Yale University in the area of Radiation Biology. His medical degree, internship and residency were completed at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he was also a faculty member for 20 years. He also served as the Director of the Residency Training Program and as Medical Director of the Radiation Oncology Section at Methodist Hospital in Houston while at Baylor. Dr. Dennis is board certified in radiation oncology.

Dr. Paul Saconn Dr. Saconn received his undergraduate degree in psychology from University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He then completed his medical degree, internship, and residency Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Saconn is board eligible in radiation oncology.
