Preparing for Childbirth Class

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Singing River Hospital Medical Staff Conference Room. This free, one-day class is taught by Certified Childbirth Educators (RN's). We suggest you enroll in this class when you are in your 7th month of pregnancy. Mother and coach will learn about the stages of labor, delivery, & recovery, plus different type of anesthesia. You will learn about your newborn's appearance, general newborn care. At the end of class, you will have the opportunity to tour the Labor & Delivery area in the hospital. Water-Fit Begins

AARP Smart Driver’s Course

Free group to assist with grief and loss

Session 2: March 7, 14, 21, April 4, 11 and 25 For children experiencing sudden loss, death, or life changes that have caused: • Sleeplessness • Fear and anxiety • Decrease in school grades • Intense, distressing feelings • Difficulty accepting a sudden death • Negative emotional or behavioral reactions • Unpleasant reminders • Feelings of guilt, anger, or revenge • Difficulty or avoidance of positive memories • Inability or resistance to move past Children signing up for sessions should attend all meetings to get the full benefit and relief of their current symptoms. Team Jaxon Bridge Walk

Our employee Salena Schoenberger's six-year-old son Jaxon is receiving treatment at St. Jude’s in Memphis for a brain stem glioma. He is receiving treatment at St. Jude’s in Memphis, TN. (More detailed info at https://www.facebook.com/homerunsforteamjaxon) Join us on Friday May 2, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the foot of the Ocean Springs/Biloxi bridge (Ocean Springs side) gathering at the Ocean Springs Yacht club. There will be t-shirts for sale, car magnets, etc. Raffles for different items will also be going on. Food and drinks will also be available. All money raised will go to Jaxon! Lymphedema: Support and Education Group

This is a group for individuals that have been diagnosed with lymphedema. We meet once a month to offer support, educational materials, and conversation. Parkinson's Support Group

This is a group that will be led by a variety of healthcare professionals to better understand the problems associated with the disease and to provide information and resources for how to improve daily life. Members will be encouraged to share their experiences with the group as well ask questions to healthcare providers or other members. Topics addressed will include understanding Parkinson’s Disease, Speech/Language Problems, Managing Medications, Exercise, Tai Chi, Dancing & Music, Home Management, Breathing, Posture and Stretching, Trouble Thinking and Remembering, Swallowing difficulties. Aphasia Support Group

Aphasia Communication and Support Group 4 to 5 p.m. in the Neuroscience Center 2nd floor conference room (3603 Bienville Blvd, Suite 202 OS). The group is for people who have been diagnosed with aphasia and we meet monthly for conversation, speech and language activities. People who wish to attend are encouraged to bring any additional communication device they may use (communication board, speech generating device etc.). Caregivers, spouses and/or family generally do not attend the meetings however may provide transportation. The group is led by a speech language pathologist who treats adults with acquired communication impairments following a neurological disorder or diagnosis.
