Candy Stripers and Junior Medics Volunteer Program
What is a volunteer?
At Singing River Health System we depend on our Candy Striper/Junior Medic Organization. These caring individuals contribute their time, energy and talents to assist the Hospitals' personnel with some of their non-professional work functions so they are able to spend more time with patients, their families and our guests.
Volunteering is an excellent way to learn about an occupation or an organization while gaining real work experience. Whether you are looking for interaction with patients in our nursing units, or, if you prefer clerical work, there is a place for you to volunteer.
As a volunteer, you may choose to work in any of the following areas of SRHS:
- Health Information Management
- Human Resources/Employee Health
- Infection Control
- Laboratory
- Nursing Services
- Radiology
- Rehab Services
What are some benefits to volunteering?
You can:
- Gain experience to put on your resume
- Give something back to your community
- Do something good for others
- Have fun
- Learn about yourself
What will be required? Our volunteers are asked to contribute 5 service hours each month and attend our monthly meetings. Services hours are flexible. Volunteers make their own time schedules so as not to interfere with personal commitments.
Interested? Whatever your reasons for volunteering, whatever your background or skills, we would like to talk to you about putting your talents to work in one of our Hospitals.
You can download the Candy Striper/Junior Medic Application and bring it, e-mail it or mail it in. More details are on the application itself.
